Time takes its toll on us. The ups and downs in life, the hopes lost, the hopes still nurtured. As the song says, ‘Look upon your troubled face, time has found a place, winds have dried the tears and stone has cut the lines’ draws attention to the affect these life confrontations have on us. Hard timrs have become a part of life.  Even greater times of hardship will continue  as 2 Timothy 3:1-7 states, “But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here.   For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal,   having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness,    betrayers, headstrong, puffed up with pride, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God,   having an appearance of godliness but proving false to its power; and from these turn away.  From among these arise men who slyly work their way into households and captivate weak women loaded down with sins, led by various desires,   always learning and yet never able to come to an accurate knowledge of truth.” We live in a world of hard times.  But there will soon be a time when things will no longer be spinning out hard times as Isaiah 48:18 promises, “ If only you would pay attention to my commandments! Then your peace would become just like a river And your righteousness like the waves of the sea.” In those words there is no room for hard times only continuous benefits like the relentless waves of the sea and the endless movement of a river.
