Stitches in my heart (Behind the song) Lyrics by Jennifer Logan
My vocal teacher had stitches in her heart and the lyrics that she had written had not been set to music so we collaborated on the song with her words and my melody the stitches in her heart came to life in song. The song is about a former close friend she had that she never could please or satisfy what the friend required. She found it hard to meet up to the perception and centralized inflexible focus of such a friend whom she admired in spite of the different conceptions. She may have felt much like David’s expressed fellings at Psalm 69:20 during his itme of mistreatment, “Reproach has broken my heart, and the wound is incurable. I was hoping for sympathy, but there was none, And for comforters, but I found none”. Those words also predicting the mistreatment of the coming messiah (Jesus) written over 1000 years before his birth also expresses the feelings we all encounter when faced with someone that is maybe more focused on seeking their own glory and wanting others to exalt them as well and find mistreatment a tool when they can’t get what they require. Proverbs 25:27 counsels , “It is not good to eat too much honey, Nor is it glorious to seek one’s own glory”. It is hard to satisfy such a person and that may have been the case in the circumstance expressed in the lyrics of the song , “Stitches in my heart”.
