Do you know (Behind the song)

It was a new place to begin a new life of marriage in 1970 Terrell, Texas just east of Dallas. We were quickly introduced to a new view when looking for an apartment the prospective landlord made it clear he was a southerner and we could not have any blacks visiting in the residence. So we looked elsewhere! Later when using the operator to call a friend in Tegucigalpa, Honduras , the operator ask what part of Texas was that in. Then a friend visiting from Chicago was stopped by local Police was accused of lying when he said he was from Chicago, they said “not so, your plate says Illinois”.

It was clear that sometimes we are so focused in our immediate circle and space that we fail to see the bigger picture, It was not just a Texas thing , it is a human thing. Do we really know or are we so wrapped up in our own pride and narrow view that we can’t see the trees because of our forest. Proverbs 16:18,19. says “Pride is before a crash, and a haughty spirit before stumbling.” And verse 25, “There exists a way that is upright before a man, but the ways of death are the end of it afterward” Isaiah 30;28, says, “Have you not come to know or have you not heard? Jehovah, the Creator of the extremities of the earth, is a God to time indefinite. He does not tire out or grow weary. There is no searching out of his understanding.“. The wise words at Romans 1:20 make known power we cannot duplicate, it says,  “For his invisible qualities are clearly seen from the world’s creation onward, because they are perceived by the things made, even his eternal power and Godship, so that they are inexcusable”. These were motivations behind the song, “Do you know” because there are bigger things in the universe that are wise to give attention to and recognize, These are  things that have great power and intelligence behind them , thus begs the question,  do you know?
