I’ll just fly (behind the song)
How is it that what started out as one of the most marvelous occurrences in life turns out to be the worst experience in ones life. How does one become a disturbance and a hurtful thing in the life of a loved one. So much so that the disturber or the disturbed wants to just fly away. It is sometime a gradual occurrence of developing patterns that irritate the other and are never communicated or dealt with rationally. Growth involves bending, changing ,smoothing, and an effort to please one another and take in consideration their feelings. If there is no growth then there is stagnation and that becomes putrid just like rotting flesh. And that is what this beautiful relationship becomes. Because beautiful relationships are made by the growth working actions mentioned above, they just don’t happen by osmosis. The text at Ephesians 4:16 addresses a principle that can be applied to even relationships, “From him all the body is harmoniously joined together and made to cooperate through every joint that gives what is needed. When each respective member functions properly, this contributes to the growth of the body as it builds itself up in love”. The literal body functions perfectly when all of its members act in harmony with their obvious use. Feet and legs go in the direction dictated, Hands carry out work artistically, eyes and the mind concentrate on the actions being taken. Each has a different role and when they stay within that role all works out harmoniously. So for harmony to exist between two people what is the role of each one that is needed? Ephesians 5:33 pinpoints exactly the role of each one, “Nevertheless, each one of you must love his wife as he does himself; on the other hand, the wife should have deep respect for her husband”. The role of each one is to focus on the needs of the other. The husband focuses on showing love to his mate the wife and the wife focuses on respecting her husband. The simplicity and profoundness of these two roles is an answer to all relationship problems, for if done so from the heart and with love for the other as the motive then the growth cycle continues , the feelings for each other are increased to an everlasting bond that becomes unbreakable. But just as the body works in harmony abiding by it’s respective roles so does the relationship not by osmosis but by practicing each ones role to a perfection. Then as the song says we won’t ‘ have left it out in the rain’ and ‘we could make each other smile’ won’t be a past thing but an ever present one. No need to fly! These are the thoughts and the solutions behind the song, “I’ll just fly”
