Ribbons in your hair (Behind the song)
Most people have had a brush with betrayal and a lack of fidelity. How sad is such an endurance that seems like it will never end. It is especially hurting when one had toiled with so much effort to make things work. It seems to be a sad consequence of the world we live in with so many lost, undecided and even self-centered souls. It is not only individuals but an entire nation can manifest traits of disloyalty. The nation of Isreal was called a stiffed-neck people-Exodus 33:3 , because they in general did not show humility even though the person who was guiding and protecting them loved them and patiently tried to work with them to lead them out of this condition. Notice what they became to be called and what their deterioration eventually led to: “How the faithful city has become a prostitute! She was full of justice; Righteousness used to lodge in her, But now murderers.” (Isaiah 1:21). She became like the girl with the pretty ribbons in her hair that didn’t stay there. Stubbornness can lead to many negative things even to the extreme of unfaithfulness and in this case winding up as a prostitute without conscience and gratitude. The Nation of Isreal became such, in spite of it’s loving care by God they turned their back on him. made Idols to worship as their creator and allied themselves with the surrounding nations to trust in rather than the one who had cared for them so tenderly. A true Prostitute indeed! These are the inspirations behind the song, “Ribbons in your hair”.
