Another Highway (Behind the song)

All Highways take us somewhere! Some are short, some are thousands of miles long, some were a goose chase leaving us disillusioned at the time wasted and the pain acquired and others lead us to a dead end. That is literally, but our life can take us down symbolic highways we call the choices in life that also take us on a journey sometimes pleasant, other times painful. A  wrong choice can involved years of ones life just to get back to square one. The thrill of something new and different can remove us from our values base where as the song says, “when the wind blows slightly, your down , down on the floor,”  or “ things change so drastically that you never even know at all”. Many times one is unable to see the pitfalls and the negative side of our choice. Some texts shed light on the difficulties of the wrong choice . Notice the following: Proverbs 15:19,” The way of the lazy one is like a hedge of thorns, But the path of the upright is like a level highway”.  Proverbs 12:15  ,”The way of the fool is right in his own eyes, But the wise one accepts advice”  Proverbs 14:12, “There is a way that seems right to a man, But in the end it leads to death”.  The wrong choice is definitely not a level highway. But then how do we avoid the heartaches that such choices produce?  Isaiah 30:21, says how: “And your own ears will hear a word behind you saying, “This is the way. Walk in it,” in case you should go to the right or in case you should go to the left”. Our Creator  and his son provide the advice, we just have to read it and study it. Also the son said in John 14:6 “Jesus said to him: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Study the life and counsel of both.  These are the things the motivated the song, ‘Another Highway’.
