What is really behind those pretty eyes? For that you would have to be inside the mind of the other person. Sometime an expression, a mannerism, or a reaction tells a tale. It is said and I believe it is true and proven many times over, that a young woman matures a lot faster than a young man. So when the two begin their life together a young woman has to put up with a lot more from a young man who still has too much of a boy inside. Especially is this more complicated if the two are still adolescents who have not developed the qualities needed to sustain the intense ups and downs of life. The wise words correctly admonish, “But if anyone thinks he is behaving improperly by remaining unmarried, and if he is past the bloom of youth, then this is what should take place: Let him do what he wants; he does not sin. Let them marry”-1 Corinthians 7:36. Past the bloom of youth refers to a time when one has gained a more mature stance dominating more the hormones that tend to control the emotions when one is younger and inexperienced. If a relationship is formed at this young stage the statistics verify that failure is most likely. The younger the couple are the more the young girl will have to endure because the boy has a longer way to go to get out of his boyhood. As the song states, “Behind your eyes is the stain of the pain of loving me, of the years hidden inside , every one of them behind your eyes”. And verse two adds, “Behind your eyes is the warmth of the love that understand this boy inside this man and every foolish dream”. So a strong , mature and compassionate woman has a lot to endure, and this boy may never know all the things she has held inside. But the beauty of it all is when the rains fall and the storms set in she covers over the pain like falling winter snow and waits for this boy to catch up. A rare circumstance indeed that  a young boy in this position benefits from, for such a woman is a prize and the boy needs to do all he can to hold on to her for not all young girls are capable of enduring this tedious transition. The more mature and quality dominated the couple are the less that has to be held behind the eyes and thus more concentration given to building a beautiful and enduring relationship together standing on the same ground. These are the thoughts behind the eyes of the composer of the song ‘Behind your eyes’.
