Distances

The human race is filled with the variety and the uniqueness of every human being. Every persons varying talents, viewpoints and capacity to love when truly genuine is a beautiful thing to see and experience. But unfortunately we have all been born in a world of Distances. A baby and even a child may at first have no distances, smiling or addressing everyone with a wave or Hi. But distances are learned very rapidly and soon everyone finds their own special shell to withdraw to. For the world makes it a must by its dangers, perceived fears and catastrophic events that intrude and mar the beauty of what one could be if it were not for these distances. So then we have racial, national, emotional and spiritual separations embedding these distances to become virtually impossible to close and too often only widen with many passing experiences. True we get a taste of closeness when we form loving friendships but this is only a drop in the bucket of what could be and what we are missing out on. How can these distances be closed. How can one come to appreciate, love and come to trust all those that form that beautiful variety called humanity. The song alludes to a time when all distances will be closed never to be traveled by the symbol of any form of movement. 1 Peter 1:22 makes it clear the qualities that will begin to close the chasm, “Now that you have purified yourselves by your obedience to the truth with unhypocritical brotherly affection as the result, love one another intensely from the heart”. Imagine a time when every person living will be a trustworthy, genuine loving individual. Psalm 37:11 guarantees “But the meek will possess the earth, And they will find imagine exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.” And verse 29. “The righteous will possess the earth, And they will live forever on it.” Can you imagine a time when each person will be a new discovery to come to know closely their qualities, abilities and talents with an eternity to do so.
