GOING HOME(Behind the song)
Sometimes for some running away is the answer, especially when one can’t manipulate their way or wishes. They find themselves inflexible, not willing to reason out of their one-sided view. Not saying that running away in all circumstances is wrong especially not so in a an abusive situation where physical, emotional harm or loss of life is in danger. But here is being referred to selfish inflexible pride that refuses to bend and then leaves looking to satisfy a selfish and hurtful desire. Its the waking up, then realizing the mistake one made and then finding going home is the only answer. One has worked through the pride and one-sided view and realizes it is time for humility to kick in. That is what the song “Going Home ” is all about, the coming to ones senses, the recognition of fault and a desire for reconciliation. It is like the biblical story of the Prodigal son who selfishly wanted to take his share of his inheritance and squander it as he saw fit only to find himself in the lowest of conditions and misery. He came to his senses, humbled himself, returned home willing to bend to whatever was needed -Luke 15:11-24. As the song focuses on that transformation it reminds one of that need to be flexible, humble and willing to make a self-examination not with the intent to loose ones identity but not to be so hardheaded when working and living with others. Going Home is an effort to now make peace and learn the art of cooperation and blending of views or at least understanding the right to hold them. These were the ideas that created the song, “Going Home”
