Just as we are ( Behind the song)
I will change him or her once we are married! A plan that seldom works. It is best to fall in love with the real person just as they are. If they can’t measure up to ones preferences it may be better to move on if changes can’t be made before a major commitment. Just as we are is a song about accepting each other ready to take on the mysteries of the unknown. Not everything can be known about ones respective partner but there develops enough love and beautiful qualities observed in each one to willing accept any future surprises. As one wedding speaker said to the new couple, that he just found out something new about his spouse after 45 years. The differences can be accepted because we have come to know and love and have taken each other just as we are. 1 Timothy 1:5 focuses what basic things help make one acceptable ,just as they are.” Really, the objective of this instruction is love out of a clean heart and out of a good conscience+ and out of faith without hypocrisy”. What really is important is a clean heart, a good conscience, and being sincerely genuine as to what one is all the time without hypocritically faking a pretense of what one is not. To love one just as they are, we have be able to clearly see what they are. Little differences and minor idiosyncrasies can be put up with if the basic foundation above is the driving force behind the one being loved. Because with those qualities above such a person will always do things to maintain their integrity to what is correct and genuine toward themselves and others including the one they love. If we are attracted to the person mainly because of these qualities as a base, then the secondary personality traits like humor, kindness, unselfishness ,and polite mannerisms will be icing on the cake. The one that you love with all these good traits can be accepted even with the very unknown because together all can be conquered just the way you both are.
