Long Long Road
So much of life is scarred by the failure to act. Maybe we have had a negative experience, and we fear to pull the trigger on a major decision fearing that every burnt bridge or blazed trail will come back to haunt us. So we just wait for something good to happen but that ship doesn’t come in. But when we deeply analyze the matter we must come to the only rational conclusion that we can change what might have been if we step through the door of decision. Sometimes our fear makes excuses so as not to decide. The wise words at Proverbs 22: 13 warns “ The lazy one says: “There is a lion outside! I will be killed in the middle of the public square!” The better action is investigating the validity and wisdom of a decision, “ “The shrewd one ponders each step,” Proverbs 14:15 . Then follow this advice, “ … become doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves with false reasoning. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, this one is like a man looking at his own face in a mirror. For he looks at himself, and he goes away and immediately forgets what sort of person he is. But the one who peers into the perfect law that belongs to freedom and continues in it has become, not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work; and he will be happy in what he does. “-James 1:22 -24
The Long Long road keeps on going until it finishes but we don t have to one of its victims. We can change what might have been but we have to step through the door and take action. These were the motivations behind the song.
