No Other Road (Behind the song)

Many look for the road to happiness, the road to success,  the road to the truth. Which road are we on? Years ago I read an article about a man who had searched the world for something that he eventually found in his backyard. Sometimes we refuse to see , maybe because of negative comments from others who are only expressing their personal opinion. Maybe some negativity associated with what we are searching for and looking at, and that stops us. Or because of our own prejudices we fail to look. As the song says,  ‘SO LONG THE DOOR S SEEMED CLOSED ON ME  ,I GUESS I JUST NEVER WANTED TO SEE, BEEN LOOKING EVERYWHERE ELSE, ONLY TO FIND——THERE WAS NO ROAD, NO OTHER ROAD , JUST THE ONE I SEE STANDING IN FRONT OF ME.  If the road we look for is the truth, some look everywhere only to find inconsistency and lies, then our mind must be open and logical and use common sense. But we also have to recognize that just because we don’t understand something that in itself is not a reason to reject it. Take time to verify and understand the mysterious before moving on to rejection. As the song says , THEY SAY THERE S A THOUSANDS ROADS,  AND EACH ONE TAKES YOU THERE , BUT WHEN THE DISTANCE IS UNKNOWN , ARE THEY NOT JUST CIRCLES IN THE AIR. Some point out that all roads lead  to the same place especially when it comes to truth and religion. But does common sense and logic reveal that or is that an emotional or lazy cop out so as not to have to investigate further. A road shouldn’t be dismissed only because there are unknown factors. Interestingly John 14:6 says, “Jesus said to him: “I am the way and the truth and the life “ This is a monumental claim. Are all things associated with this statement and person dismissed because of unknown or not understood issues. Has religions dismal historical and present record of involvement in wars, hypocrisy, and disunity closed the door on anything associated with the book these ones claim to comes from? In that book it also said deviation and fragmentation would occur within the very ranks of those who claimed to follow the wise advice given in the book.  2Timothy 3:1-5  makes this statement 2000 years ago, “ But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here.  For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal,  having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness,   betrayers, headstrong, puffed up with pride, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God,   having an appearance of godliness but proving false to its power”; It was fortold, “oppressive wolves will enter in among you and will not treat the flock with tenderness,  and from among you yourselves men will rise and speak twisted things to draw away the disciples after themselves.”—Acts 20:29,30.  These prophecies were accurate ,but were they approving of these negative things or simply saying watch out and to avoid those dangers. .Why not find out why and also what else has been said about the future and how is one personally affected and involved. And what can be examined to prove the truth of all comments made with an open mind. But remember an open mind looks to understand not to destroy.  Just rejecting all because something negative was found and not understood doesn’t reflect objectivity. There is No other road except one. Matthew makes that plain for it says, “Go in through the narrow gate, because broad is the gate and spacious is the road leading off into destruction, and many are going in through it;    whereas narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life, and few are finding it”. A road that leads to a life that will be perfect, without sickness and ageing, one that  never ends , is worth the investigation.  If there was more than one way it would have been addressed. These are the motivations behind the song.
