Peace, its just a word (Behind the song)

Sadly 2001 brought one the most horrible attacks on innocent civilians on September 11th. Thousands killed in attacks on various locations on US soil claimed as war against the enemy of Islam. During the years that followed many more were killed by suicide bombers, terrorist attacks and the wars in Iraqi and Afghanistan. Even if one takes sides or does not the fact remains, thousands of innocent victims, fathers, sons, mothers, daughters and friends who had loved ones soon to be crushed by their tragic loss. The song, ‘Peace its just a word’ was written during this period. As the song laments the words, that are not just words but realities that should have been unspoken. War, hate, Pride and Greed are not just words in our world but Peace has failed to be more than just a word. In our century according to the “Geneva Declaration on Armed Violence and Development, more than 526,000 people die each year because of the violence associated with armed conflict and large and small-scale criminality”. According to Brown university’s Watson Institute for international and public affairs stated, “The U.S. post-9/11 wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Syria, Yemen, and Somalia have taken a tremendous human toll. The total death toll in these war zones, including direct and indirect deaths, is at least 4.5-4.7 million and counting. Of these, an estimated 408,000 civilians died directly from war violence. Precise mortality figures remain unknown.” The efforts at peace over the centuries leaves one frustrated because neither the ‘League of Nations after the 1st World War, the United Nations after the second World War or even the 1986 and 2021 declared years of Peace have not produced a world of lasting peace. Will lasting peace come to this ravaged planet? Interestingly a prediction was made 2000 years ago regarding Peace. It stated , “Whenever it is that they are saying, “Peace and security!” then sudden destruction is to be instantly on them.– 1 Thessalonians 5:3. The indication is that there will be a peace and security more substantial than the normal claims that have continued for years, so much so that many will end up believing that man has finally acquired a real peace. But sudden destruction forbodes because it will be just another facade. But there is real lasting peace in store for all the planet earth and it inhabitants. The promise is stated prophetically in Jerimiah 29:11,”For I well know the thoughts that I am thinking toward you,’ declares Jehovah, ‘thoughts of peace, and not of calamity, to give you a future and a hope.” Psalm 37:11 “But the meek will possess the earth, And they will find exquisite delight in the ABUNDANCE of peace” and Isaiah 9:6,7 says regarding the,” ….Prince of Peace, To the increase of his rulership And to PEACE, there will be NO END” This permanent peace will come soon after the above destruction and also the removal of ALL false religious organizations that have also not promoted peace due to their divisive nature and involvement in war. Just look at their soiled history. (see revelation 17:15 to 18:8 where the political powers and the commercial entities along with the soon to be destroyed “Babylon the great” the religious entity are mentioned. Also note 1 Peter 4:17.) And that peace will last forever! These are the influences behind the song, “Peace it’s just a word”.
