Shadows (Behind the song)
The shock of loosing someone you love, leaves you rehearsing those last moments you saw them. In fact that visualization is played over and over again in disbelief. Is death then the end with no hope of ever seeing that loved one again. Not really, for the comments contained in the Bible refer to a resurrection , a returning to life of most all those who have died. So many songs touch on the loss of a loved one. James Taylor’s ‘Fire and rain’ refers to Suzanne lost in death. She will be returned to life as noted in Acts 24:15, “And I have hope toward God, which hope these men also look forward to, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.” The word resurrection appears 40 times in the scriptures and everlasting-life 45 times and the context of living forever appears 42 times. Such a concept permeates the scriptures rather than being one accidental verse, it totals at least here mentioned 127 times. And texts about death being eliminated total at least 27 times. So the concept of living forever without death is not just a passing idea but a deeply established teaching. These thoughts surrounded the penning of this song.
