Strangest Haze (Behind the song)
Some days you wake up to a hazy day and sometimes it clears up to a beautiful day. But a Strangest Haze is something less natural and is more symbolic. Strangest Haze speaks of a changed world with no particular direction without color and the joy that was once experienced. The second verse lets one know the causes with the line, “people were walking in an individual way, selfishness was their aim”. Yes, a world with a Blaze of explosion but with no substance only focused on self. Similar to those described in Jude 12,13, “waterless clouds carried here and there by the wind; fruitless trees in late autumn, having died twice and having been uprooted; wild waves of the sea that cast up the foam of their own shame; stars with no set course, for which the blackest darkness stands reserved forever.” All active showy displays but no substance or direction. The last verse of the song explains it when it speaks of the tarnished phrase that said “Love your ………but the words had been eaten away.” Throughout the sad history of humanity there may have been many Strangest Hazes but do we find ourselves in one at present, will the blues and greens fade into darkness. The words at 1 Thessalonians 5:3 are sobering,” Jehovah’s day is coming exactly as a thief in the night. Whenever it is that they are saying, “Peace and security!” then sudden destruction is to be instantly on them, just like birth pains on a pregnant woman, and they will by no means escape.” Could todays attempt at peace and security be what is referred to? If so it will not be a lasting peace but more like a strange negative haze. It will be a false peace like so many others without substance, for sudden destruction and the pains on a pregnant woman are certainly not a clear day.
